And then there were four.....

Dear Friends and Family,

As you all know, God blessed us with wonderful son through adoption in 2013 and it has been an amazing two years! We can't believe his 2nd birthday is at the end of this month. Thank you again to all who helped us financially as well as through prayer and support.

Drumroll please......  God has called us to adopt again! We can't wait to see what this journey will hold for us.  More than that, we know that God is working on our hearts and growing us as parents along the way, which we are very grateful for.

We are asking for your support in the following ways.

Prayer

  • Prayer in the area of finances.  We plan to raise the funds for this adoption and need guidance and direction from the Lord on what fundraising for this adoption looks like.
  • Prayer for the birth family as they go through this process.

  • Prayer for the Lord to guard our hearts throughout the process because adopting is a BIG deal and can be very stressful.
  • Prayer for Knox as he will become a brother.
Financial

As we mentioned the first time around, adoption is an expensive process. We plan to adopt through the same agency again and our cost will be between $25,000 and $35,000.  Like last time, we are committing to create as little debt as possible as we go through the process. We sold our home in 2014 and used the money we made off of the sale to pay off debt and replace two of our vehicles. Because of this we will be able to put more of our own money into this adoption but we will still need your help!

  • Our first fundraiser will be a silent auction. We are in the beginning stages of planning the auction to raise funds for the adoption. If you would like to be on the planning team please contact us, we can definitely use your help.  A venue to host the auction and items to be sold will be needed.
  • We will also have Adoption t-shirts  for sale in the near future.
  • For our last adoption we held 5 garage sales.  Since we don't have a house anymore, garage sales are not option. I can hear the sigh of relief from all of you that helped us with those!
  • Monetary donations are also welcome.

Thank you for your love, support and prayers,

We love you!

Blessings From Adoption

What other blessing can you get from adoption besides a baby?

We have been blessed to meet so many other people on our journey to adoption. Two of those people are Michael & Paula-Beth Toller.

Today we were blessed to have them in Dallas. We met them for a lunch date. It was so great to meet with another couple that is on the same journey.

They adopted their son Gabriel in June 2012 (Picture of Maegan, Paula-Beth and Gabriel Below).

We met them through our adoption agency: www.christianhomes.com

Look at Gabriel's awesome cheeks! ;)

Tuttle Talk 1190 AM

This past week on August 2, 2012 we had an awesome opportunity to be on a radio show.  The host, Andy Tuttle, is a personal friend and invited us on to share a little about our adoption story among other things.  We were nervous to say the least!  But Andy did a great job asking us questions and getting us comfortable talking.  Our case worker, Amy Munoz, was also present in the studio and she spoke about Christian Homes and Family Services.  We are so excited  to get the word out about adoption and we are very thankful for the opportunity that God provided us.

Didn't catch the show? Well you can listen a couple of different ways:

Our Little Lemonade Selling Friend

It isn't very often that someone goes out of their way to sell something for you.  It is ESPECIALLY not very often that a precious young child decides to donate the proceeds of her lemonade stand to you.  Well today we are humbled and blessed by Avery Stubblefield (with the help of her wonderful parents I'm sure) who not only withstood the 100 degree Dallas heat but also managed to charm her way into making some money for our future son or daughter.

We first met Avery and her parents several years ago while we were working in our church's child care ministry.  It has been wonderful to get to know Brian, Andi, and of course dear Avery.  This family has encouraged us towards adoption and the Lord used Andi to lead us to Christian Homes.  We are incredibly grateful for the love and support that you have offered to us!

Thank you so much!!

Support Letter

Dear Friends and Family,

We are very excited to be writing this letter to you! As many of you already know, God has placed it on our hearts to expand our family. In 2010 we started the journey to become parents and we have been unable to have children naturally. In 2011 we felt God leading us towards adoption. Through prayer and the guidance of the Lord we have now chosen to start this exciting process.

Through a friend’s suggestion the Lord led us to Christian Homes in Abilene, TX. In January 2012 we attended a two day orientation which allowed us to meet the staff, adoptive parents, birthmothers, and adoptees. We left this orientation with a better understanding of the adoption process and we felt encouraged by the Lord to choose Christian Homes as our adoption agency. Please visit their website (www.christianhomes.com) to learn more about who they are.

We are asking for your support in the following ways.

1. Prayer! Prayer in the areas of finances, navigating through the legal process, prayer for the birth-family, and all those who have been affected by infertility. Also we ask for prayer for patience because we are anxious to bring home our baby!!
2. Adoption is an expensive and we are asking for your financial support. Our cost will be between $25,000 and $35,000. We are committing to create as little debt as possible as we go through the process. If you would like to donate you can do so through the paypal button on our blog. If you would rather send you donation you can call us or mail it to us. Our contact information is listed below.

To follow our journey please go to our blog at http://ormesherfamilyexpansion.blogspot.com/

Thank you for your love, support and prayers,
We love you!

The Journey Begins!

On January 12, 2012, with much anticipation and excitement, we traveled to Abilene, TX to attend Christian Homes and Family Services orientation class. The two day class taught us a lot about the adoption process. We had the privilege of listening and asking questions to two adult women who were adopted through Christian Homes when they were children. Also on the panel, we met three birth mothers who placed their children through Christian Homes. The class had a question and answer time with them as well which was an eye-opening conversation for most of us there. They helped expose some of the myths of adoption from the perspective of the birth mother. The last group on the panel consisted of two couples who had one child each which had been adopted through the agency. The question and answer time with the adoptive parents was equally as helpful, leaving us encouraged.

We also learned about the agency itself and the staff, many of whom have worked there for over 20 years. Although it is expected, the staff really do have big hearts for children, birth mothers, and adoptive parents. This agency is Christ centered which is very important to us as we go through this complex and emotional process.

As we drove back to Dallas we found our hearts encouraged by the Lord and we decided that this is the agency that we want to move forward with. Our next steps include filling out the LARGE amount of paperwork, getting the funds in order to pay for the services, CPR classes, a home study, and the list goes on.... We will keep you posted along the way!

Thank you for reading and thank you for your support and prayers!

God is....

Tonight my bible study brought up the following things of what "God is.."

  • Eternal (Psalm 90:2)

  • Immense (Jeremiah 23:24)

  • Perfect in Holiness (Exodus 15:11)

  • Filled with Goodness (James :17)

  • Filled with Truth (Psalm 57:10)

  1. Which ones are the most meaningful to you?

  2. Which ones are difficult for you to understand?

This study stirs my heart for our great king. He is all above and so much more.

One Whole Year

For the year of 2012. We are giving up eating out for a year. What lessons will God reveal to us?

In the first three days I have learned we have more time, money and time to focus on one another. I am excited to see what God shows us in this year.

I am excited to make new dishes with Jonathan, to have more friends and family over for dinner.

Bring it on 2012!!

Challenge: Next 30 days list things you are thankful for.....

Day 1: God and him capturing my heart: I am his and he is mine. He changed my world. Flipped it upside down. He saved me.

Day 2: Jonathan: My husband is amazing and I am lucky to have him in my life. He challenges me everyday. He supports me. Loves me. Thank you baby

What are you thankful for?

Adoption Conference

On Saturday October 29, 2011, Jonathan and I attended Taperstry: Adoption & Foster Care Conference

We were also able to go with Kristy from our small group. She is a Foster Care Mother.

It was cool to see how God knew Kristy and I would meet in 2006 at a Celebrate Recovery Step Study and Re-Connect years later and go to this conference togeather.

God has a plan. His Plan is good. We don't always understand it. Sometimes it hurts. Always good!

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
